Himmelsbilder

Ausgangspunkt meiner Serie von digitalen Collagen mit dem Titel „Himmelsbilder“ ist ein barocker Himmelsatlas, in dem das ptolemäische Sphärenmodell und die Tierkreiszeichen in opulenter Bildsprache dargestellt sind. Dieses historische Weltbild – reich an Symbolen, bevölkert von Sternengöttern, Engeln und mythologischen Gestalten – dient als visuelles und konzeptuelles Fundament für die Collagen. Denn obwohl das geozentrische Universum wissenschaftlich überholt ist, prägt es bis heute unsere kulturellen Imaginationen: unsere Träume, unsere Ängste, unsere metaphysischen Sehnsüchte.

The starting point for my series of digital collages titled “Images of the Heavens” is a Baroque celestial atlas, in which the Ptolemaic model of the spheres and the signs of the zodiac are depicted in opulent visual language. This historical worldview—rich in symbols, populated by star gods, angels, and mythological figures—serves as the visual and conceptual foundation for the collages. For although the geocentric universe is scientifically outdated, it continues to shape our cultural imaginations to this day: our dreams, our fears, our metaphysical longings.
